In this final outdoor class from my 2021 Paint Out West workshop, we paint Three Sisters and the Thumb, located in Monument Valley, within Navajo Nation, AZ. In the clear, dry air, I balance foreground elements against the distant formations by eliminating some halftones. I paint larger than usual, on an 10x20' linen panel, to encompass the epic scene.
